Physical Theatre Workshop: When Contemporary Bollywood Dance meets Jerzy Grotowski’s Plastiques

Wednesday, March 14
Buddies in Bad Times Theatre
Facilitated by Bilal Baig

This is a physical theatre workshop that fuses Grotowski’s plastique exercises with contemporary bollywood dance in order to unlock how we can tell stories through movement, sound but no spoken word. Participants will be asked to work physically on their own, with a partner and collectively as a whole group. We won’t do anything anyone is uncomfortable with and we will modify the physical work based on the group’s access needs. In this workshop, we will train physically as an ensemble, devise physical scores and discover what the melding of bollywood dance and the plastique exercises can teach us about storytelling.
