QUEERCAB // November 1 // Doors at 8:30PM, Show at 9PM

Art as Action

For centuries, artists have been the change makers, predictors, creators, and narrators of human culture. This month in Buddies Youth Program we centre our art making around ART as ACTION. Inspired by the material of our thoughts, days, relationships, and more, we cultivate a sense of roused interest in what surrounds us. QueerCab invites anyone who is youth and queer-identified to take the stage. Dance, sing, act, play, show a film, do stand up comedy, whatever your heart desires! Our ideas, observations, connections, and community deserve to be cultivated and QueerCab is the stage where you can try it out. Come join us and uncover your unique creative voice.

Open mic, or email leelee@buddiesinbadtimes.com to sign up. Let us know any tech requirements – as long as you don’t need to hang from the rafters we can usually accommodate your performance! There will also be a limited number of ‘sign up on the spot’ spots available.

QueerCab is our monthly youth open mic. Anyone can attend and support, but the stage is reserved for queer and trans identified folks to perform. At Buddies we know that there is a great divide of privilege and access operating in our community and our world. Our commitment is to honour the diversity of the community as a whole, creating space that is safer for Indigenous, 2-spirited folks, Trans Women of Color, People of Color, and GLBTQI, and any whose voices are often left behind and marginalized. The event is pay-what-you-can, and all proceeds raised will be donated to a rotating organization.
